It may have been a lowly maiden at Echuca on a Sunday but it was the ease of the win of Desert Dreamer that impressed everyone watching. With John Allen aboard he controlled the race from the onset keeping the fence, and leading the field, as they turned for him, still under a hold, John Allen clicked him up and he quickly put 5 lengths on his rivals, extending away until he was eased down the in the closing stages to win by 2.5 lengths. In good time for the day, he showed the talent he can produce on his day, at only his 2nd career start
