Splitter atoned for her unlucky run of seconds with a commanding win today in the Jewel of the Coast Raceday Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate at the Gold Coast over 1200m.
With Jim Byrne back in the saddle, Splitter settled behind the speed in the box seat, camped on the leaders back and just waiting for the field to fan entering the straight. When they fanned in the straight Jim shot her through on the inside of the leading pack and once balanced up she lengthened and rran away from them over the last 100m to win easing up by over 3 lengths.
A win that was a long time coming, but worth the wait, especially after the disappointment of Magic Millions Day.
We knew Splitter was fit and ready to win, and she showed us that there is still plenty more to come from the daughter of Foxwedge.
The win also signified our first win in partnership with Tony Gollan.
Splitter will continue to race through the Summer period, and hopefully now she can string more wins together.
