Soul Star finally broke her metropolitan maiden winning at Sandown today!
In a BM70 Fillies & Mares race over 1000m, Soul Star was ridden by up and coming apprentice Teo Nugent who claimed 3kgs off her back. Pitched in with 55kgs against a modest lot of fillies and mares, Soul Star who had performed strongly against Stakes Class mares, made light work of this race, and sprinted through the gap at the 250m mark to win convincingly.
It had been a long 16 month wait including an agonising 5 metropolitan 2nds for her group of passionate owners to notch up her up her first win at Metropolitan level.
But she did in in clinical fashion off the back of a very impressive trial 10 days ago at Randwick.
Now she has that winning feeling, Soul Star can look around again for similar races during the upcoming winter period, which should be right in her sweet spot!
