AMATHUBA BREAKS THRU

Amathuba the flashy daughter of Pride of Dubai broke through for her maiden win at Eagle Farm today in the Stradbroke Ball Maiden Handicap over 1200m.

The 3yo filly had no luck in Sydney striking a number of wet tracks, and was sent up north in search of a good track surface.

Ridden cold today by the master Jim Byrne, she settled near last and made a long run around the field before the turn and once she balanced up, she gobbled up the leaders to win strongly.

Previously she was a 7 start maiden with 6 placings to her record, and today she was able to knock off the bridesmaid tag.

She will campaign in Queensland for the rest of the prep, in search of some more prizemoney while the Brisbane Winter Carnival is in full swing.
