Murray Bridge RR

RUSSIAN BACK TO FORM!

Russian Romeo showed he untapped ability with a big return to form today winning first up for his new trainer Will Clarken in Adelaide.

Lining up on the new track surface at Murray Bridge in a competitive Class 1 field, he was a solid second favorite throughout the betting.

Ridden by Todd Pannell, he settled last in the big field of 16, with the raging favourite ahead of him in the run, and tracked him throughout. As they straightened up and the favourite made his run outwide, Romeo made his run as well and quickly ranged up to him at the 200m, until he pulled away strongly in the last 100m to win comfortably.

Romeo is thriving in his new surroundings, and seems to have a new lease of life to racing, and the big open stretches at Murray Bridge suited his big galloping action.

He will be given every opportunity to work his way through the classes in Adelaide, and gain some much needed confidence back!
