Soul Star Kicks Off

soul star kicks off our 2018 in style!

Soul Star impressively won her maiden today at Yarra Valley in the Yarra Valley Party Hire F&Ms Maiden over 1009m.

Soul Star had to wait until raceday to secure a run as the 4th emergency, and by winning she made sure moving forward, that getting a run would no longer be an issue.

Ridden by Linda Meech, she was allowed to settle into her rhythm midfield, and sit off what was a good solid pace. Linda revved her up from the 600m mark, and she started to slowly pick up ground around the field 3 wide, entering the straight she got to the middle of the track outside the leading bunch, and unleashed a strong sprint to the line to reel in the leaders and win running away in the very good time of 57.93 secs, faster the Class 1 race later in the day.

She is a filly that has had a few setbacks over the past year, but after trialling well over 4 weeks ago, she showed us the potential we always knew she had.

She is out of the More than Ready mare Brave Soul, who is a half sister to stakes winning mare Solar Charged the dam of last Saturday’s Magic Millions 2yo Classic winner Sunlight.

Soul Star herself by leading sire Hinchinbrook, so she has a wonderful pedigree behind her.

We can now progress on with her, and she if she can measure up to midweek class at her next start, and hopefully she can take us further into the Autumn Carnival.
