Open Day @ Markdel attracts a healthy attendance

We held our Open Day last sunday at Markdel, with over 80 people in attendance, that enjoyed a parade of our existing Dream stable of horses, and a couple of new yearlings which are available for sale, followed by a sausage sizzle, and refreshments keeping the crowd well hydrated.

Some of the highlights for the day were:

Comic Ruler (He has returned to the stables for a winter preparation in line with racing on some softer tracks) He showed that he has some work ahead to get him back to fitness, after a healthy spell in the paddocks at St Ives. His coat was healthy and look a happy and well within himself.

Chosen Moment paraded very well, and showed that he has really started to develop into an athletic type. The stable are very happy with his progress, and are quietly confident he his ability.

Flirtatious was as flirty as ever with a number of the Dream Girls in attendance keen to get a happy snap with their filly. She has always looked a very nice type, strong, and healthy. She has trialled twice now, and she is not far away from starting again on the racetrack. She was bought with a view to being a 3yo filly capable of being very competitive over 1600m, and she continues to show us that will be the case.

Fruehling probably was the standout parade of the day. This 3yo UK import has acclimatises very quickly to the Australian conditions, and he has a very healthy and shiny coat. He definitely looks the part, and if appearances are anything to go by, will be very competitive in city class races. We look forward to seeing him race around late March.

The new MyBoyCharlie yearling colt paraded very nicely for the crowd. He is by a 2yo champion, out of a stakes placed 2yo mare, from a stakes winning mare, related to the Group 1 winning mare in La Volta. This guy shouts 2yo runner all over. He is athletic, compact and will be a very exciting type.

Finally, our Gonski yearling filly paraded, while not as big as the colt, she is very athletic, and will develop into a fine sprinting type. She is related to a family of speedy types, we expect her to be to fore in the sprinting filly races during her 2yo, 3yo and 4yo years.

We thank Lee Freedman for his comments during the parade which kept the crowd entralled. You just don't get anyone better to discuss the progress and aspects of your horses, than the Hall of Fame & 120 time Group race winning trainer.
